Introduction

Welcome to Rise Hall

The Hall was built by architects Watson and Pritchett (we think!), between 1815 and 1820 for the High Sheriff of Yorkshire, Richard Bethell. It remained the Bethell family seat until after the Second World War when it was leased to St Philomenas Convent School. After the school closed, the house stood empty and in an increasingly derelict state for a number of years until we bought it in 2001.

We have been lucky enough to call Rise Hall our home for 11 years.

We both have a passion for British heritage and were excited not only about rescuing an important building but also creating a family home.

We are very proud of what has been achieved by our team of amazing tradesmen and are thrilled that Rise Hall, with your support, can now be a sustainable part of the local community.
